Health & Well-Being Month: Week One – Day Five

Time: 24 hours – if you can!

Spend a day with no social media. I know, I know! I can hear your cries of despair from here! Honestly I did this, and it made me realise how much time I waste scrolling through mindless drivel. I managed to stay off Facebook for a week. It was a small miracle I can tell you! I felt I was literally addicted to it. Now I log in once or twice a day and rarely for any longer than five minutes.

Luckily I’m not asking you to do this today – although you might feel mentally refreshed once you given it a go and make it a habit yourself.

So take the leap and disconnect from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, SnapChat etc. Use your time away from social media to take up a hobby that you’ve been putting off/saying you don’t have time for. We do have time, we just choose not to spend it wisely.

By the way, if you’re unsure how much of your day is governed by social media scrolling, look on your phone’s settings and it will tell you how much time you spend on each app. I remember looking through mine and seeing how much time I was wasting on Facebook and realising my time was better spent doing something that brings me pleasure like reading, writing this, occasionally socialising…haha!

Dedicate your time to something else that holds more meaning and is far more fulfilling for you. Pick up those knitting needles and start that jumper, write that book, make that scrapbook, take those photos, clear out that dreaded cupboard! Do something that serves and uplifts you.
